Please read multiple messages when looking for information. We update this site as often as needed. But if it's not read thoroughly you can't get all of the information. We leave older posts on site so you can always look back to confirm details.
THE WHISCONIER MEET SCHEDULED FOR MON 5/20 HAS BEEN CHANGED TO TUE 5/21. THE MEET LOCATION AND START TIME WILL REMAIN THE SAME.
DUE TO THE MEET CHANGE WE WILL HAVE REGULARLY SCHEDULED PRACTICE ON MON 5/20.
Because there is only 1 track in the town and high school sports get the stadium first, we work hard to insure that both youth teams get as many practices as possible.
On May 27th at NHS track we will have the Hershey qualifier meet. This meet is an age group meet. Once we have results we submitt them to the state coordinator. She then gets us the info on which of our athletes qualified for the state meet held, on 6/23/2013, Veterans Stadium New Britain CT 900am start time. Please turn in funds from sale of discount cards by May 15th. If you have not gotten your packets please get them ASAP. We have extra cards to sell. Once we recieve all funds we can begin purchasing items on list and also give additional cards to those who want them.
There is no practice for 2-4th graders due to 5-8th grade away meet. Next week we will have practices on Monday and Wednesday at Fairfield Hills. We will meet at the baseball fields behind Reed School, regular practice time.
Uniforms will be handed out 5:15-5:45 on Thursday May 9th at NHS.
The middle school bus for Friday May 10th will leave middle school horseshoe at 2:40pm PROMPTLY. For RIS students a note must be sent to school for bus and students go to cafertorium to be signed out. The bus returns after the meet @ 7:15pm to the middle school horseshoe.

Due to a change in the High School Lacrosse teams schedule we will NOT have practice on Wednesday the 24th or Thursday the 25th of April
We will be kicking off the discount card fund raiser on Friday April 26th. Each athlete will be asked to sell just 5 cards at $10. each. These discount cards offer hundreds in savings over the next 14 months. The fund raiser will last for 2.5 weeks, ending on May 15th/16th. We will announce winners and prizes at our 5th-8th graders home meet on May 17th. This fund raiser is for 2nd-8th graders.
Team Captains for the 5th-8th grade team will be announced at practice on Friday April 26th. We will then ask that they/their parents , take the lead in orgainizing volunteers for the car wash at Berkshire Motors, across from NHS on Saturday May 25th. 12pm-?
Please note several practices are canceled 22-26th week. The High School boys have a home meet on Monday. While there is no practice we highly reccomend attending and cheering on the boys. Because of high school lacrosse games we will not have practice on wed or thurs. nights.
We have added the date for the Hershey qualifier meet, May 27th and the USATF post seasons meets, to the track schedule page. Please note we MUST have a birth certificate on file for these events.
Results for the Danbury meet will be on this site once they are available.
Our first ever fund raising event will kick off the last week in April.
Register for our "Run for Chase", youth only (ages 6-14) triathon will be available beginning April 22nd on the Coach O, site. This event is our way of honoring a young man and his classmates who were not able to become Newtown Hawks track team members because they were too young when their lives were cut short by such a tragic event.
Danury Meet is at Danbury High, 43 Clapboard Ridge Road. Track is behing school. Please arrive 3:20pm. Meet starts at 4pm. We will go over events etc.. at 3:20.
Reminder! No practice this week April 15-19 because of spring break, only the Danbury Spring Break invitational meet on Wednesday(No Bus) transportation is on your own.
Practice CANCELLED for today (Friday April 12th) due to weather and Field unavailability for both 2-4th and 5-8th grade.
Due to the low # of athletes available for the meet on April 24th, we will not attend. This is an all relay event so we need enough athletes to fill 4 slots in each event.
The weather rule we use is that we do not practice in thunderstorms, or heavy rainfall. We do practice in light rain and after a storm. This is different than the field use other sports utilize, because the track dries quickly.
Parents forms for RIS bus dismissal need to be turned in to RIS prior to each away meet where your child will be taking the bus. We suggest you use the form from your packet, but a handwritten note can be used as well. Please note RIS will not allow your child on the bus without a note.
Due to a soccer event the 5th -8th grade team will not have practice on Friday April 12th. The 2nd-4th grade team will have practice. We have to be off the track by 6:20, thus no older team practice.

Parent meetings are mandatory!! If you missed the parent meeting you must get the packet from Coach von Oy or Coach Toth ASAP.
Uniform, and other gear orders must be in by Monday April 8th.
Please note the June 4th WCC meet has been changed to June 3rd. And an additional date has been added to the dates that we will not be able to have practice, May 24th, due to a town wide soccer tournament.
Due to the holiday Good Friday being this week, and the schools being closed, we will not have practice this Friday March 29th
There will be a mandatory meeting for all parents of Newtown Hawks athletes. 5th - 8th grade parents may attend either April 4th at 6:35 or April 5th at 6:50. 2nd - 4th grade parents may attend either April 3rd at 6:35 or April 5th at 5:50.
This meeting will give you all of the information about the season, forms for certain meets, info on uniforms etc...

Outdoor track will be starting on March 25th for 5th-8th graders and March 27th for 2nd-4th graders. Coach Fish is retiring after 7 years leading the Hawks team and former Assistant Coach von Oy. "Coach v", is stepping into the role of head Coach.
